  • 40 JAHRE JORDAN 1: NIKE RELEASED DEN BRED UND BLACK TOE ALS OG-RETRO

40 YEARS OF JORDAN 1: NIKE RELEASES THE BRED AND BLACK TOE AS OG RETRO

Nike is starting 2025 with a bang, dropping the two most iconic Jordan 1 colorways on the second weekend of February .

After 40 years, nine Bred releases in one form or another, and four OG retro releases of the very first 1 colorway, Nike is doing it again: On February 14, 2025 , the Bred will be released for the tenth time – and because we're all about round numbers this year, it's also the fifth OG retro release of this iconic sneaker. Available from us on February 14 as a live release in-store in Darmstadt or—with a little luck—in a raffle!

A hand holds a black and red Nike sneaker against a dark background.

No matter how often the story has been told, it remains legendary and deserves to be revisited again and again: Jordan's move to the Chicago Bulls as a surprise third overall pick in the draft, the incredible offer from Nike that elevated him far beyond a mere endorsement to a legend, and MJ's iconic moments in the Bred —from his incredible performances on the court to the revolution that the sneaker, once "banned" by the NBA, sparked throughout the entire sneaker world. Without him, the sneaker world—and arguably Asphaltgold —wouldn't be where it is today.

Asphaltgold may not have been in the game for 40 years, but the people behind our store have been passionate about it for much of that time. To mark the release of the new Bred , we've reunited to explore the story behind this milestone. Grab some popcorn, unpack your notebooks, and check out our little lecture on the Nike Air Jordan 1 Bred!

For the 40th anniversary – and fittingly for the fifth OG retro releaseNike is bringing the story behind the Bred back to the big stage and is once again generating heat and a lot of anticipation for February 14th – possibly the hottest release of the year.

THE BLACK TOE BRINGS DOUBLE THE NOSTALGIA!

Following the limited Bred release, Nike is following up with another historic 1 with the Black Toe on February 15th. A colorway with true DNA – worn by MJ in his rookie season and immortalized on the legendary Jumpman logo.

While the Bred represents rebellion and the NBA's ban, the Black Toe tells a different story: It combines the Chicago Bulls colors with a white base, creating a unique look that remains timeless. A perfect alternative—or addition—for those who haven't had enough after the Bred drop.
