About Saucony

Saucony was founded in 1898 as Saucony Shoe Manufacturing Company in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. The river on which the company was founded at that time was known by the Native Americans as "Saucon". Translated, this means "the place where two rivers meet." The logo depicts a flowing river with three boulders sitting in it. At the beginning to the middle of the 20th century running became more and more a serious sport. However, the region lacked the appropriate outfitter. With their attached retail store, the Saucony operators filled this gap and provided the ambitious athletes with professional footwear. When Saucony running shoes won a "Best Quality" award from Consumer Reports magazine in 1977, the shoes quickly went from being an insider tip among passionate runners to the hottest running shoes of the time. When Rod Dixon won the 1983 New York City Marathon in Saucony running shoes, the brand finally reached a wider audience. Saucony dedicated a signature model to him, the DXN Trainer, which is still available for purchase today. In addition to this classic, the Saucony Jazz and Shadow series form the pillars of Saucony's 80s running range. In the 90s, more technically complex silhouettes followed with the Shadow 6000, among others, which enjoy the highest popularity in sneaker circles today. Supported by the successful GRID damping, these new models could provide a new wind. Not least thanks to numerous successful collaborations, the brand has made it to a renowned size in the sneaker scene. However, Saucony is not to be stopped and so we now expect more silhouettes from the archives, which will take us through the late 90s and early 2000s. Be excited!
